Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist – Junction Turning (FCA-JT) is designed to help detect and monitor the vehicle ahead or help detect a pedestrian or cyclist in the roadway and warn the driver that a collision is imminent with a warning message and an audible warning, and if necessary, apply emergency braking. Junction Turning (JT) function will help avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle in an adjacent lane when turning right at a crossroad with the turn signal on by applying emergency braking.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).

Like a second set of eyes, this system uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to look out for the vehicles in the driver’s blind spot. When BCA detects a vehicle in those blind spots, it provides visual and audible alerts, and if it detects a potential collision, it initiates active avoidance braking and steering manoeuvre to help keep your Sonata out of harm’s way.

Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM).

Signalling left or right with the Sonata’s indicators will activate Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM). This safety system can see cars travelling in rear blind spots and projects real-time video onto the digital supervision cluster, giving you a more complete driving picture to respond to.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is designed to help detect and monitor the vehicle ahead or help detect a pedestrian or cyclist in the roadway and warn the driver that a collision is imminent with a warning message and an audible warning, and if necessary, apply emergency braking. High Beam Assist (HBA).

Scans the road ahead for lights, then automatically adjusts headlamp range, switching between high and low beam.

Lane Keeping Assist – Line/Road-Edge (LKA-L/R).

A steering assist function that detects lane markings to monitor your position in the lane. Should you stray from your intended lane without activating your indicators, an audible and visual warning will be sounded and where required, steering intervention will activate to keep you in your lane.

Lane Following Assist (LFA).

LFA uses the Sonata’s front windshield-mounted camera to detect lane markers and preceding traffic on the road and provides steering assistance to ensure you safely stay in the centre of your lane while driving.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).

When backing out from a parking position, RCCA detects vehicles approaching from the left or right. The sensor will issue an audible alert and visual warning on the dashboard and if necessary, will initiate a braking manoeuvre.

Safe Exit Assist (SEA).

The Sonata’s senses are always looking out for you. Even when it’s parked, if it detects a car approaching from behind, it will prevent the driver from disengaging the electronic child safety lock to allow rear passengers from exiting the vehicle. And if it detects a vehicle approaching and a road-facing rear passenger opens their door, it will sound a warning chime reminding them to be careful and a warning sign will also pop up in the cluster.

Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go.

This system utalises the front radar sensor to detect the speed and distance of a vehicle travelling ahead in the same direction from that vehicle, up to a maximum speed preset by you between 10km/h and 180 km/h.

Surround View Monitor (SVM).

The system detects any oncoming vehicles approaching from the rear and alerts the driver that it may be dangerous for passengers to exit the Sonata, with both a sound and a pop-up visual warning appearing on the dashboard.

Four automated driving modes.

This driver-focused tech allows you to instantly adjust the way your Sonata N Line performs to suit your immediate driving needs. Toggle through the Drive Mode Selector to choose from four settings, with each displaying differently on your supervision cluster. There’s Normal for optimal fuel efficiency; Sport for more spirited drive, Sport+ for a sportier more agile, more fun-to-drive performance; and Custom settings, which allows you direct control of key subsystem settings such as steering weight and the speed and strategy of transmission shifts.

Launch Control & N Power.

Launch control allows you to accelerate from a standing start. When you floor the accelerator, the system maintains the engine speed at which the maximum torque is exerted by itself and charges the turbocharger to maximise the acceleration performance. N Power Shift controls the engine speed when upshifting by flooring the accelerator in Sport or Sport+ driving mode.

Active Sound Design.

Further proof that the Sonata N Line is not an average sedan is the active sound design which produces the right sound depending on each condition related to the engine speed, torque, and speed. The system combines the sound from the two sources, engine and speaker. It’s all controlled by the Vehicle Settings menu in the 10.25” multimedia screen.
